I started a 1e AD&D campaign in September of 2023. It recently switched from being an open-table, 1:1 time campaign to a closed-table campaign with a select number of players. I will probably blog more specifics about the campaign, but for now, this picks up in the middle of the action…

SCENE 01 – Date: Readying 16 – Emerging from the hot, close air of the Hidden Library into the Barren Wastes, the party enjoys the feel of the cool, nighttime desert breeze. They then proceed to the camp where there guide, Felora, has been waiting for the past 3 days.

Arriving back at the camp, Felora explains that she has been troubled by strange dreams every night of rat-people walking on their hind legs, dressed in clothes, laying traps for tiny, naked humans who scurry on the floor; the rat-people eat the tiny humans…

Felora has had a strange sensation, like a calling, from deeper in the desert. The party asks if she knows anything about what is out there and she tells them that there is an oasis rumored to be a few days to the West; rumors say that it is a vast oasis surrounded by strange pillars said to be thirty feet tall and possessing hand holds for climbing; it is said that anyone who does not know the secrets of the passage in the oasis can never make it to the source of water and they find themselves where they began outside of the pillars.

After debating their next course of action, the party decides to return to the town of Metalrest instead of pursuing this new rumor. During their rest, Piety tests Talia to see if she has the potential to work miracles similar to other clerics. Talia passes the test.

That night the party are disturbed by more strange dreams and portents, especially Horus, who is haunted by visions of Margaret, the spirit of a little girl left behind in the Hidden Library.

SCENE 02 – Date: Readying 19 – Returning to Metalrest, the party finds an inn and Felora arranges to have the town’s undertaker provide them with a simple coffin to transport the treasure they received from the Hidden Library; this is done to avoid prying eyes.

The party makes a brief stop on their voyage south, stopping at the Northern Temple of Katapodis to return the elk-creature borrowed from the cleric, Aron. Page keeps one of the elks given to her by the monk, Hosh.

SCENE 03 – Date: Readying 25 – After serveral days’ passage down the Ondroian River, the party finally arrives back at Aetos, the Iron City.
