WARNING: The recaps for this campaign contain heavy spoilers for the Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign setting for Call of Cthulhu 7th edition. We are picking up at Session 74; I may back fill in the recaps to the beginning of the campaign, but note that we are entering with the campaign already in progress. Location: Cairo.

SESSION 74 – Dateline: Saturday, 28 March, 1925 – SCENE 01 – SHEPHERD’S – Meeting up in the beleaguered hotel, the team meets up and goes over their options.
Realizing that their window of opportunity is quickly closing, Marco and White decide that if they are to get into the Egyptian Museum, it has to be now.

SCENE 02 – THE BLOCKADE – After setting themselves with suitable disguises, Marco and White, along with their dragoman, Kahled, take as many back streets as possible to get to the Museum. It doesn’t take long before they are stopped and they offer a fake story about how they are writing a piece for the New York Times centered on the bravery of the British soldiers and are able to fast talk their way through the blockade.

SCENE 03 – CHAOS AT THE LOADING DOCK – Arriving at the Museum, White and Marco circle around to the rear of the building, and see the loading dock. However, two British soldiers are patrolling that side of the building as well.
They make a break for it and try to stay low, but the soldiers spot them and, with their disguises on, the soldiers shout at them to stop.
Ignoring the soldiers, Marco and White make a run for it, hiding next to some barrels besides the loading dock as bullets riccochet around them.
Taking a chance, Marco charges to the door and manages to get it open just as he is riddled with bullets from the soldiers.
Fearing he will be pinned down and not wanting Marco’s sacrifice to be in vain, White runs into the museum, slamming the door behind him. He knows he has a very limited time before the soldiers break through the door.

SCENE 04 – THE VAULT – White runs past Marco’s corpse and proceeds to the offices to once again search for the vault’s code. This time he finds and and is able to sneak past the soldiers.
He opens the vault as he hears the soldiers approaching and slams the door behind him, locking himself inside the vault.

SCENE 05 – KAFOUR – White is surprised to learn that he is not alone in the vault; Doctor Kafour came down to the vault to seek refuge when the violence began but realized too late that there is no way out once locked inside. Faced with diminishing air, Kafour had resigned himself to his fate. White brought in some fresh air before he shut the door again, but they are now both effectively trapped in the vault.
Searching through the artifacts, Kafour is able to use one of them to enhance his magical power whilst casting a spell: this spell gathers all of the available light like a magnifying glass, but the resultant beam is far more powerful. With White holding him in place, Dr Kafour is able to burn out the lock to the vault; however, the intense heat takes all of the oxygen out of the room and immolates White’s dessicated remains.

SCENE 06 – EVASION – Dr Kafour gathers up the artifacts and is able to talk his way out of the Museum telling a variation of the truth. He (rightfully) explains to the soldiers that the artifacts need safe keeping now that the vault has been somehow compromised, no doubt from vandals.
