Ornan divides the intervening time in training at his martial college and studying The History of Ten Kings.

Horus and Piety spend time in charitable works for their temples.

Page ventures to the Stunted Leopard in the Rookeries and speaks with the bartender, Lurash. Throwing down some judicious Thieves Cant gets Lurash’s attention and he warns her from speaking that too loudly in Aetos. Page inquires about a thief named Alict, but Lurash hasn’t seen him; he suspects that Alict may have been arrested and he tells Page that she can check at the garrison — the guard in the garrison is a layabout named Oredel, who Lurash says can be bribed with drink. Lurash also tells Page about the Unnamed Stall in the marketplace.

Page goes to the Unnamed Stall and pays 200gp for a clue leading to the mysterious Drythe the Dextrous, a high level thief and alleged leader of the thieves guild in Aetos.

Zarka returns to the Order of the Dawn and conducts the ritual to find a familiar. After 11 hours, the ritual is unsuccessful.
