Dateline: 4 April 1925 – Location: Cairo – SCENE 01 – FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND – Dr Kafour, arriving at Shepherd’s, runs into Moriarty in the lobby and delivers the sad news of Marco and White’s deaths. Between them, the team is able to get White and Marco‘s bodies recovered. Being a war veteran, White is given a military funeral, the official story of his death being covered up by Dr Kafour and printed in the Cairo Bulletin by his friend, Nigel Wassif.

SCENE 02 – THE BREAK IN – Moriarty searches the room they had rented out for Van Heuvelen and discovers that the window had been smashed in and his notes removed. Moriarty finds a muddy shoeprint close to the window and some discoloration in the carpeting suggesting lye, which is used as a cleaning agent.

SCENE 03 – ANTIQUITIES TRANSPORT – With Dr Kafour’s assistance, Adler is able to get the paperwork secured for the transportation of the artifacts kept in Cairo museum (and subsequently removed from the vault by Dr Kafour upon discovering their connection with the Black Pharaoh). The paperwork is scheduled to be finalized on 11 April.

SCENE 04 – RETURN TO THE TEMPLE OF BAST – Taylor and Morello, increasingly distressed over the curse placed upon them by the mysterious woman at the temple of Bast, decide to return to the temple to see if there is a way to have the curse lifted. They are accompanied by Miss Shosenberg and Dr Kafour and led to the site by their young drogoman companion, Khaled.

Arriving at the temple, the team notices a secret drawer hidden between the feet of the statue of Bast, carved from obsidian. Once again, Moriarty finds something to be off in this representation of Bast but cannot place it. Within the temple is the young woman, now impeccably dressed. She is stunningly beautiful with mesmerizing eyes.

The team cautiously approaches and Dr Kafour tries to explain to the woman, who introduces herself as Neris, High Priestess of the Temple of Bast, that they had nothing to do with Van Heuvelen’s treachery and are also looking for him.

Neris is not persuaded to lift the curse just yet. She tells Kafour, if the team can recover what Van Heuvelen stole, then and only then will she remove the curse.

SCENE 05 – RETURN TO THE LAUNDRY SHOP – After returning to Shepherd’s and discussing the clues Moriarty found in Van Heuvelen’s room, the team returns to the laundry shop in the Old Quarter. They find Van Heuvelen sleeping once again upon his filthy pallet in the back room, but the laundry is otherwise unoccupied.

Morello and Taylor sneak forward, but Van Heuvelen is blacked out. They spot that the earth is disturbed around the pallet and can make out a depression underneath the pallet. Carefully lifting the pallet with the still-sleeping Van Heuvelen on it, they usher Khaled into the back room to carefully remove the dingy shoe box kept within the hole beneath the pallet.

Khaled brings the shoebox out to Dr Kafour , who is both elated and mortified to find ten sheets of ancient parchment kept within the box. Dr Kafour carefully removes the contents of the shoe box and they place a shirt from the laundry into the box to give it some weight. Khaled returns the shoe box to the depression.

As they are lowering the pallet, Morello loses his grip and the pallet crashes to the floor, rousing Van Heuvelen from his slumber. He instantly recognizes the team and they flee the laundry with Van Heuvelen in pursuit — the chase is on!
