I received notification that my copy of the official Final Fantasy table top RPG starter set has shipped (apparently from Nevada). So I should be seeing it here in NYC in about a week, give or take, with the holiday weekend.

I haven’t had a chance to play the exhaustive fan-created FF3.0 yet, but I have played Fabula Ultima and … I dunno, it largely misses the mark, in my opinion.
I am very curious to see how Square Enix translates FF XIV from video game to table top; rumors about, and there’s very little first-hand information in native English.
I think one of my biggest concerns, besides the game not working, is that Square may not be aware of how the RPG world works with relation to physical copies and PDFs. If they pull a WotC/Renegade/Acheron and make players purchase full price PDFs as well as hard copies, it really punishes those who want both versions.
Or even worse, PDF may not be available at all! I’m not too broken up about that if I’m being honest; I mean, The Burning Wheel got along just fine being print-only for years and years.
Kudos to Square Enix for getting the game out within the estimated timeframe of May 2024! I preordered this game as soon as it was announced back in September 2023. Also, Kudos to Square for having a proper preorder, not running this as a crowdfunding campaign.
I will post more details as I can. Stay tuned!
