SCENE 01 – The personal assistant to the executive Vice President of Packard Testing is kidnapped and held hostage by several Nexus 8 Replicants. Their demand: 10,000 Chinyen and a shuttle offworld. Four Blade Runners (Kenji Aramaki – Cityspeaker, Piper Beaumont – Analyst, Basher Kerrigan – Enforcer, and Ivan Moneaux – Skimmer) are assigned to the rescue operation. They are to infiltrate the facility and negotiate a deal and failing that, retire the Replicants.

SCENE 02 – Kenji works his way around to the side of building where the hostage is being held: an old fabrication facility. Entering through the loading dock, the steel gate long-since torn down or removed, Kenji finds the area occupied by a couple dozen squatters. Kenji attempts to blend in but is discovered immediately and surrounded by squatters. The leader of the squatters steps forward and tells Kenji that he can leave in peace, once he has placed all of his belongings on the ground. Kenji places everything but his pistol and Signature Item (an antique harmonica)on the ground. The leader suspects that Kenji is holding something back.

SCENE 03 – Piper enters the facility through the front door, the old metal and wood groaning in protest. Stepping in from the rain-soaked street, she stands in the lobby of the facility, dominated by a massive security desk and two enormous statues. She hears various sounds of movement an conversation from further inside the facility. Moving to her right, she enters an abandoned laboratory, broken glass crunching beneath her feet.

SCENE 04 – Basher goes to the lowest floor of the residence built above the facility and works his way through the cardboard lean-to shanties lining the hallways looking for the freight elevators. LAPD intel states that one of the freight elevators may still be operational. Finding a bank of freight elevators, Basher tests them and discovers that one indeed is still working. He enters the elevator and rides it down into the facility below. Upon leaving the elevator, he disappears among the shadows of the massive, cannibalized machinery.

SCENE 05 – Unbeknown to the squatters in the loading dock, Ivan was keeping watch of what was going on and he enters the loading dock with is pistol drawn, ordering everyone to leave the officer alone. Ivan trips as he enters the loading dock area but quickly recovers with a display of strength, kicking in the head of the prone squatter he had tripped over. Ivan stares down the leader of the squatters, and they disperse but not before taking the belongings Kenji left on the ground, including his KIA. Ivan and Kenji then make their way to the inner door, Ivan providing cover as Kenji enters the facility from the loading dock.

SCENE 06 – It doesn’t take long before the Blade Runners come across the Replicants within the facility: three of them are in a central area with the hostage, a woman, who is chained to an I-beam; two snipers are in the foreman’s overlook office; one is in their makeshift armory, and another in the cafeteria.

Kenji announces their presence and is met with immediate resistance from the snipers. Piper is able to shoot one of the snipers through the heart and Ivan is able to wound another Replicant.

Going deeper into the facility, the Blade Runners are gradually bogged down under fire. Basher rushes out from his hiding place and knocks away the leader’s pistol. Ivan is mortally wounded and is dragged out by Kenji in a fighting withdrawl. Piper is wounded an overcome by doubts and goes into shock.

Basher, surrounded by Replicants and unable to take Piper out of the facility, picks up the leader’s pistol and shoots the hostage. The Replicants close in on the detectives and now take them hostage.

SCENE 06 – In the fallout from the failed rescue attempt, Packard Testing pays the ransom for the captive detectives and they are able to successfully shuttle offworld. The precinct’s captain, Captain Harrison is preparing disciplinary action against Piper when Ivan intercedes on her behalf, risking disciplinary action himself.

The four offers are put on leave to recover and for the precinct to wait for the story to blow over.

SCENE 07 – Six months after the incident, the four officers are called to Captain Harrison’s office and reactivated with a special assignment — at the request of Packard Testing!
