SCENE 01 – At 1400 Hours on 15 April, 1925, the crack squad assembled by General Sinclair parachutes out of a modified, low-flying aeroplane onto the iceberg that contains the abandoned secret motile German laboratory and listening station.

The team consists of: Commander Lewis Silverstone, Ensign Wyatt Woolworth, Captain Gordon Chumway, Lieutenant Henry Green, and Ensign Thomas Price.

SCENE 02 – The team parachutes onto the iceberg where the demolished German runway once stood. The far side of the iceberg rises steeply before them. Silverstone and Green sustain minor injuries upon landing.

Reconnoitering to the crate with their equipment, the team notices a strange dry ice effect is creating a dense, moving mist, making the snow banks and snow-covered equipment take on strange, shadowy shapes despite the bright overhead sun and blinding snow.

The crack team of Operation: Cigar Box

SCENE 02 – Cpt Chumway is attracted to a peculiar shape in the mist and moves towards it to investigate. He discovers a massive, webbed paw protruding from a snow bank, roughly the size of a polar bear’s. Not sure if the shape is real or naturally formed ice, he moves forward, alerting the rest of the team.

The team starts digging away at the snow and uncovers a massive, rubbery appendage with strange, leukemic spots. Lt Green surmises that this creature is able to use these appendages to move through the snow at great speed. The team is disturbed by this discovery and Silverstone cannot shake the feeling that this appendage is a cast-off from the creature, that it somehow multed or shed this outer shell, leaving it intact like a snake or cicada, but unlike either.

The team decides to forego fully uncovering the creature as they have limited daylight hours in which to get to the entrance to the laboratory, which they surmise is close to the summit of the rise before them.

SCENE 03 – The climb to the summit of the rise proves to be extremely difficult and only Silverstone and Green make it to the entrance. The door is large, sturdy, metal, and locked. They wait for the rest of the team to arrive with the dynamite, but pulling the equipment up an incredibly difficult task on such a steep inline.

The remainder of the team is forced to stop some distance below Silverstone and Green and then push onwards. This is when disaster strikes: Woolworth and Price come upon a section of sheer ice and are unable to gain purchase with their ice picks, and fall downwards below the line of the deep mist, which has been steadily rising.

SCENE 04 – Cut off from the others and losing visual contact, Woolworth and Price hear the sound of something moving through the snow at great speed. Another creature, this one very much alive, emerges from the mist and readies to strike. The creature is massive, elephant-sized, with a strange, insect-like head and exposed brain-dome.

Price loses his nerve immediately and looks around for a way to retreat. Woolworth keeps his cool and opens fire on the creature’s brain-dome using his Thompson SMG. His aim is true and he fells the creature immediately, splattering its icor everywhere. With a sigh, the creature falls dead in the snow.

Neither Price nor Woolworth wait around to examine the creature, summoning up their last reserves of strength and climbing towards the others, eventually making it the rope the team sent down. Tying the equipment to the rope, they are able to complete the climb, arriving exhausted at the entrance to the facility. The team pulls up the equipment with the rope.

SCENE 05 – After blowing open the door, the team enters a small entry chamber. The facility within is cavernous, ice cold, and utterly dark. Silverstone says they will never find the artifact if they stay together, the facility is just too large. They decide to split into teams and rendezvous at a designated time…
