Datline: 1 May, 1925 – SCENE 01 – Before deciding to enter into the narrow corridor before them, the team looks for a possible alternate route. Lacking the equipment (and skill) to scale the mountain, they are loathe to attempt climbing the mountain to find one.
Returning back to the opening and giving it a detailed examination reveals that the opening is roughly oval in shape, with a smaller round cutout at the top. It appears as if the opening was carved by hand from a former waterway, and carved for one person in particular. Miss Shosenberg is reminded of the sarcophagi she saw in Egpyt from the general shape of the opening.
The passageway is narrow, prohibiting the use of one’s arms, and cuts into the mountain and turns, vanishing into the endless night within. The team must walk through single file. Miss Shosenberg leads the party and the others file in behind.
SCENE 02 – The passageway seems to go on forever and starts to give the impression that it’s getting smaller and tighter; unease and panic start to grip the team, but they press on. Eventually, Miss Shosenberg senses more than sees light ahead. After a few breathless moments, she is sure that there is a lighted passage ahead. Slipping off her shoes, she steals ahead.
The passageway suddenly opens up into a medium-sized chamber, lit by a single torch in a wall sconce. In the center of the chamber is a single woman’s shoe. Scrape marks in the floor look as if someone were dragged through this chamber. Rats scurry into the darkness when the team files in.
The team can make out another torch some distance ahead and begin to walk towards it, staying as far out of the light as possible.
SCENE 03 – The smell hits the party before they can see anything. A foetid stench assaults them from a vast chamber a short distance away causing some of the team to feel physically ill.
Looking inside the chamber, they can see that it is climbs to about 20 feet in height and is a couple of hundred feet across. To their left rises a statue of the Bloody Tongue, at least 10 feet tall, a throne between its legs. In front of the party are two massive piles of corpses in various states of decay. Rats writhe throughout the piles making them pulse in the torchlight.
The team splits up, some heading towards the statue and others exploring the cave. Beyond a turn on the far side, they find a massive cage packed to filling with hundreds of prisoners. The sound of crying children can be heard within. The investigators are torn as to whether they should free the prisoners but decide, with remorse, that they cannot afford to give up their position to the cult just yet.
In the base of the throne, Mwai finds a wooden chest. Opening it, he sees a marine clock set to Greenwich Mean Time, just like the clock found under Ju-Hu House and in Misr House. Clearly, the cults are using these to coordinate the events surrounding the upcoming solar eclipse.
They also find a secret door, cleverly hidden in the stone wall. Locating the mechanism and applying strength, the team is able to open the door and they see a passageway ahead, leading upwards, lit by occasional torches.
SCENE 04 – The passageway is extremely long, about a mile, and winds its way through the Mountain of the Black Wind to its very summit. There, atop the mountain, is the Great Chamber of Nyarlathotep. A throne sits atop a dais at the far end, sacrificial pits in front. Further out is an altar made of blue stone. And atop the throne sits who can only be Hypatia Masters, listless, practically catatonic, bloated and distended from carrying the Spawn of Nyarlathotep for the past 5 years.
M’Weru takes to the stage and the Ritual of the Birthing begins. The cultists strip naked and the investigators have no choice but to follow suit. Prisoners are brought up from the cages below and ritually sacrificed to the Bloody Tongue, some cultists begin cutting themselves, their blood adding to those of the victims.
SCENE 05 – Lightning begins to strike the mountain top and in one extraordinary flash, a staircase magically appears, allowing cultists from the valley below to stream up to the mountaintop. A black smoke wends through the cultists, and a feeling of an incredibly malevolent force, and then HE appears – Nyarlathotep in his aspect as the Bloody Tongue, straddling the stair case. He scoops up cultists as they flock inside, crushing the deserving and throwing the unworthy down the mountainside, to be smashed on the rocks below.

The scene changes to one of complete and utter madness as the appearance of Nyarlathotep seers into the minds of those present. All but Miss Shosenberg and George Allen are able to keep their presence of mind and push their way through the throng towards the throne.
SCENE 06 – When they get to the throne, there’s not much the investigators can do; Masters writhes upon the throne, drool spilling from her mouth, revolting and pitiable. Miss Shosenberg and Allen hesitate.

At that moment, Mwai’s mind snaps like a twig and he is filled with an uncontrollable rage. He swings the wooden cage containing Who at the nearest cultist, and the cage breaks open. The lizard jumps free and immediate grows into a full-sized Gug.
Who begins attacking cultists, slaying them left and right. Nyarlahtotep squares off against the Gug; the battle is brief and many cultists die.
SCENE 07 – Allen and Miss Shosenberg cannot wait any longer, and they flee down the steps with a handful of cultists. Down in the valley, the storm is reaching its zenith, and Miss Shosenberg yells to Allen above the wind that they cannot hope to make it back to Mwangi’s village without any clothes or gear. They decide to climb back up the steps.
As they ascend, the storm stops. There is a final clap of thunder and then the rain ceases, and the clouds part. The waxing moon appears and offers some light.
Reaching the summit just as the magical stairway disappears, the Great Chamber is silent aside from a few gibbering cultists. Thousands are dead, either from being trampled during the battle, slaughtered by cultists, or some other means. M’Weru and Hypatia Masters are nowhere to be seen.
Miss Shosenberg quickly gather up their things and are able to locate Mwai, who needs to be restrained. They can carry him off with the help of Chesterfield. Lawson is nowhere to be seen.
