Dateline: 2 May – 9 May, 1925 – SCENE 01 – The beleaguered investigators make their way to the edge of the forest to discover that their jeep is no longer there, no doubt stolen by fleeing cultists.
They make their way on foot back to Ndovu village to rest and recover, consult with Mwangi, and deliver the bad news regarding the Ndovu warriors: two missing or dead and two with serious psychological trauma from the events atop the Mountain of the Black Wind.

Dateline: 10 May – 13 May, 1925 – SCENE 02 – After a week’s stay a Ndovu village, the team is ready to proceed back to Nairobi. Hitching rides where they can and walking when they cannot ride, the trip takes four days. Their arrival at the Norfolk Hotel, now either dressed in traditional Kikuyu garb or in weather-stained and torn garments, is a relief to Ishaq Rahad and Muhammed Asad, who have been waiting anxiously for the team’s return. Many cultists have passed through Nairobi on their journey back to wherever they came from and Ishaq Rahad has been trying to keep tabs on them as best he can.
SCENE 03 – The team wastes no time upon arrival, knowing that they may be watched even now, and head straight to Bundari’s hut in Swahili Town. As they approach the hut they notice that the roof has two large holes in it with much scarring, as if two meteors burned their way through the roof. A feeling of dread takes hold of Mwai and he runs inside the hut.
Within central chamber nothing is disturbed aside from the burning holes in the roof, precisely where Bundari had his protective wards situated. Old Man Bundari and Okomu lie on the floor of the room, dead, their bodies eviscerated and their intestines pulled out in ritual fashion, with the sign of the Bloody Tongue carved into their foreheads. The team immediately thinks of Taan Kaur wielding the power of fire and summoning fire demons atop the train bound for Nairobi. Her body was never recovered after she fell from the top of the train…

The team waits for Mwai to process this change in events, his grief quickly giving way to a cold hatred and thirst for revenge. Mwai takes an amulet from Bundari’s neck, and puts it around his own before covering the bodies.

SCENE 04 – Now painfully aware that the cult is on to them, the team goes to Johnstone Kenyatta to enlist his aid, hoping no harm has come to him, either. After knocking several times, Kenyatta answers the door and is relieved to see Chesterfield is still alive. Ushering them inside, the team brings Kenyatta up to speed on what happened atop the Mountain of the Black Wind, of the arrival of the Bloody Tongue aspect of Nyarlathotep, of the madness and senseless slaughter, of the the prisoners being kept in the massive cage, of the piles of corpses, and, finally, of the murder of Bundari and Okomu aided and abetted by Taan Kaur.
Kenyatta arranges passage for the team to Melbourne aboard the RMS Excalibur out of Port Said. He arranges further passage to Port Said aboard a tramp steamer leaving in two days from Mombassa. The team opts to drive from Nairobi to Mombassa, driving straight through the night in shifts. The tramp steamer, The Cutlass, awaits …
