SCENE 01 – The crew decides to explore the pre-Verdant ruins now that its guardian, the Viper Vines, have been disposed of. Rebek stays behind watching the entrance and the now-broken outrigger.

SCENE 02 – Venturing past the entry chamber, the first area they come across is a circular room with a glass greenhouse in the center. The walls are choked with plant life making it impossible to see inside clearly.

Entering into the green house, the door slams behind and the stone ceiling above floods the greenhouse with sunlight, which revitalizes to plant creatures that resemble ancient, Proto-Gau.

The crew is able to find the trapdoor leading to the mechanism which controls the ceiling oculus, a large pre-Verdant machine. Unfortunately, the machine is destroyed and Garu is nearly killed by the pressurized steam which powers the machine.

Once the machine is destroyed, however, the oculus snaps shut and the Proto-Gau fall back into suspension. The crew carries their wounded outside of the chamber.

SCENE 03 – After some discussion, the crew decides to press on further into the ruins. The next chamber they enter is a Proto-Gau barracks. Searching the barracks turns up a few specimens but nothing like the marvelous machinery they saw in the greenhouse. They decide to go deeper into the ruin.

SCENE 04 – The next chamber they enter is dominated by a massive orrery, detailing the movement of celestial bodies the crew do not know the names of. Some sort of hidden lantern/projection system puts constellations onto the domed ceiling.

Placing the Heart of the Vines recovered from the Viper Vine serpent, the orrery hums to life and the mechanical counter reads 820. The crew runs the machine for two minutes, advancing the counter to 840. The orrery moves around and around, and the constellation projections dance across the ceiling. The crew feels a strange sensation, as if they are moving through a thick, viscous liquid, and there is low, subsonic rumble, and a feeling of being subjected to a vast amount of power. Then it stops.

The crew decides to advance the orrery to 900 and let it run for another 6 minutes. Their senses are assaulted by the same sensations and energy surge.

SCENE 05 – The crew decides that they have had enough of this strangeness and the quiet brooding of the orrery. They decide to dismantle the pre-Verdant wonder and take it out in parts, though they know it will be very difficult. And sure enough, the orrery is broken in their attempt to disassemble it. Thinking it will still be useful for parts to perhaps repair the damaged outrigger, they carry the pieces back outside.

SCENE 06 – Arriving outside, they see that the vines have once again grown wild and are completely covering the outrigger, now looking rusted through and pitted. Rokko assesses that there are several decades of decay present here; something does not make sense.

They then discover a carefully hidden series of notes protected from the elements. It is written by Rebek as she waited for as long as she dared for them to return before going back to tar pits to raise a search crew. Her last note says that it has been a month and there is still no sign of the crew so she has no choice but to move on.

It is then that the party realizes that somehow the orrery, powered by the Heart of the Vines, has transported them 80 years into the future …
