SCENE 01 – Grekov and Susan walk through the violet, jelly-like air, and emerge on a stone bridge on the outskirts of a small, European-looking town. A cobblestone street leads to the town proper, set upon a hill in the distance and in the other direction leads to vast, green fields divided by lines of trees and low, stone walls.

The bridge and streets are positively overrun by cats and the pair notice that their clothing has changed to an old fashioned cut made of colorful silk. Susan surmises that she must have experienced some sort of trauma and all of this is a dream. Grekov warns her that she may be dreaming, but everything happening is totally real.

SCENE 02 – The pair hears a bell chime in the town and the cats all take off towards the sound. Grekov and Susan step very carefully towards the sound of the bell, trying not to tread upon any of the cats.

After the bridge, a wooden sign identifies the town as Ulthar; both Grekov and Susan know that the sign is written in a language they cannot understand but they are somehow able to read it.

Pressing onward towards the town center, they see the townsfolk have laid hundreds of bowls of food out around a large fountain and the cats are streaming inwards to the bowls.

Seeing an old man, Mogunda feeding small fish to the cats from a wicker pannier, they observe that he often takes the raw fish and shoves it into his mouth, or squeezes a fish’s guts into his mouth before tossing the carcass down to the cats. Although revolted, they approach the old man.

SCENE 03 – Asking Mogunda if he knows anything about where they may find a silver key, the old man tells them that they are better off going to the great city of Calephais. In the court of King Kuranes, greatest of the dreamers, are many scholars as well as the Endless Library. Surely, that’s the best place to learn of the whereabouts of the silver key.

Asking where Calephais may be found, Mogunda tells them to follow the road to the fields, and then travel across them to the port city of Dayleth Leen; there they can book passage to Calephais.

SCENE 04 – Whitney and Parker are sitting dejectedly inside their prison when they hear someone calling to them, the sound of an old man. After determining that the old man is also a prisoner, they find out that in another prison cell is none other than Samuel Decker, the eyewitness that had Hesper Payne hung, now driven mad by the centuries of torture at the hands of Hesper Payne.

After realizing that Decker will not be much help, they ask who they hear him speaking with, and another voice speaks back to them: Jonathan Cooper, the judge that sentenced Hesper Payne to hanging.

Judge Cooper explains to Whitney and Parker how Dreaming works and the pair use their newfound power of the dream to weaken their bonds and the door to the tin shack. Cooper tells them that they cannot escape yet as Payne will know instantly.

Looking outside, they see that they are in a small city made up of large stone warehouses and a colossal warehouse stands in the center of the city.

SCENE 05 – Whitney and Parker make their escape but are discovered by a pair of Moonbeast Guards and chased down to the docks where black ships are ready to set sail.

Parker hides inside a barrel and Parker hangs from the side of the ship while the Moonbeasts search. Unable to find the prisoners, they allow the ship to set sail…
