SCENE 01 – Parker gives chase to Jameson behind Watley Imports, easily catching up to him and tackling him to the ground. Jameson brings his fists down on Parker’s back with superhuman strength, cracking 3 of his ribs and knocking the wind out of him. With Parker on the ground, Jameson delivers several savage kicks, beating him into unconsciousness before running from the police.
SCENE 02 – Whitney meets Detective O’Reilly and explains the situation. O’Reilly sends two officers to follow Parker and Jameson. O’Reilly sends for an ambulance to take Whitney, Larkin, and Evangeline to St Mary’s Teaching Hospital. Whitney is released from the hospital and proceeds back to the street behind the warehouse.
Locating the silver key in a sewer drain, Whitney uses his motor to remove the grille and retrieves the key. He then makes all haste back to his house.
SCENE 03 – Returning to his home, Whitney takes a large dose of laudanum to ensure his entry into the Dreamlands. Unbeknownst to him, Susan Mason is hiding in his closet. Once he is passed out, she strides out of his closet, takes the shotgun he left propped at his side, puts it against his chin and places his hands upon the stock. Susan Mason then uses Whitney’s finger to pull the trigger, blowing most of his head off. She then leaves the grizzly murder scene. Whitney, now in the Dreamlands, knows in an instant this he can no longer return to his body in the Waking World. He is trapped here forever …
SCENE 04 – The Arkham Police arrest Jameson and Susan Mason, who is found wandering the streets of Arkham in a daze, covered in blood, claiming she has no recollection of where she has been. Although the police suspect her of Whitney’s murder, there is scant evidence to tie her to the scene.
SCENE 05 – In the Dreamlands, Whitney meets his friends just outside of Hesper Payne‘s lair. Producing the silver key, they approach the strange door to her inner sanctum.
At the same time, the pirates under the command of Parker and Whitney stage their assault on the Hidden City. They press into the main building of Hesper Payne’s lair.
SCENE 06 – The door to Hesper Payne’s inner sanctum is made from a strange black wood. Bizarre symbols are etched along it like wounds, and seem to pulsate and move. Standing next to the door, Grekov can hear the sounds of calls for help and moans from the door. Unsure if the sound is coming from the other side of the door, he presses his ear upon it and is instantly caught by the door. His skin begins to writhe as the symbols work their way into this skin, his mind blasted by the shrieks of the countless souls Hesper Payne has trapped inside the door. Susan tries to pull Grekov from the door but fails and her contact with Grekov transfers the writhing symbols to her as well. Whitney is able to pull them both free.
Using the silver key, they enter the sanctum of Hesper Payne …
SCENE 07 – Inside her towering inner sanctum, filled with a ghastly violet light, the friends’ minds are not prepared for the sight that greets them: among the enormous black stones of the vile tome she has been studying, Hesper Payne, floating ten feet in the air, hovers like a 6-armed spider. From her hands are glistening threads of hot honey, at the ends of which Randolph Smith, Sammuel Decker, and Jonathon Cooper writhe, gibbering children’s nursery rhymes, pausing only to lick the honey from the threads.
Upon her head, Hesper Payne wears a crown of eyes, the brim of which covers her own eyes. She wastes no time before the battle is engaged.
Whitney forms a staircase to run up and confront Hesper, but he succeeds only in being stabbed by her fell blade. When one of the eyes from her crown falls upon him, he falls down the stairs, his body contorting and bloating, distending, and tearing free from his clothes, his body turning into a bulbous, pusy vessel. Susan’s mind shatters at the sight, the trauma rendering her blind.
Grekov is able to keep the tatters of his sanity in check and manages to smash one of the black slabs just as the pirates mount a charge against Hesper. One of her hands shoots forward and silver threads of molten lead pierce the pirates, pinning them to the spot and leaving them writhing in unspeakable agony as the molten lead burrows into the marrow of their bones.
Completing her summoning ritual, Hesper brings forth Set, one of the many Masks of Nyarlathotep, into the chamber. 30 feet tall, his very presence seers the minds of all in the room, and everything turns black…
SCENE 07 – Several months later, Grekov is released from Arkham Asylum to rejoin society. He returns to England to continue his studies at Oxford. Susan remains at the Asylum a little longer and eventually returns to her home town in Pennsylvania. After being released from the hospital, Parker makes his way to Christchurch Cemetery to lay flowers at Whitney‘s tomb. William is never seen again, declared Missing, and then Presumed Dead by the Arkham Police Department.
